I’ve been talking about it for years, but I finally did it! I am a full-time entrepreneur. Jesus take the wheel!
So, what does that mean exactly? Good question. It means I am happier than I have ever been in my ENTIRE professional work life (except for that time when I was flirting with the idea of being a full-time plus model; that was fun because it totally fed into my latent narcissistic tendencies and my love for selfies.)
For those who keep up with me, you know that I left my comfortable seven-year work home at ESPN and my extended Disney fam to work for Pace Communications, an award-winning content marketing agency spring 2014 as a senior digital editor. It was hectic, eye-opening, educational and totally stressful. I loved my team (most of them), and Pace is a great company to work for, but in the end, I wasn’t cut out for that life. My love for branding and public relations was calling my name, and it showed every time I wasn’t working on my own personal clients and projects. Plus, I just needed more…more what? I wasn’t sure, but I wasn’t going to figure it out until I walked out on faith, which is exactly what I was forced to do on March 30, 2015. It was a fairly “amicable” split, and I walked away with tons of knowledge–which is considerably more valuable than the hefty direct deposit I was getting every two weeks. Money isn’t worth losing your sanity. And experience trumps cash every time.
Fast forward to now, and I’m smiling ear to ear on a daily basis. And yes, my job as the thought leader, chief wrangler and overseer at JSW Media Group is hectic, eye-opening, and educational, the stress is gone. I’m walking in my purpose and it feels fantastic. Thrilled to see what 2016 has in store.
Thanks for choosing to embark upon this new journey with me. Please feel free to comment and provide feedback. Don’t worry, if it’s bad, I’ll just delete it (kidding, sort of).
